In late 90’s One of us found out that in the North America, medical education was being imparted with use of plastic/synthetic manikins developed with special features, clay models, charts and so on. These made the teachings more interesting. Students learned better.
We discussed the matter with the Dean, Medical college, Baorda and some eminent professors. We then shipped about 84 manikins from the USA.
Nowadays, in the western countries when the medical students and nursing students learn, they practice on manikins first. We had manikins to practice Venipuncture, Phlebotomy, suturing wounds, endotracheal intubation, catheterisation, Fundoscopy etc. These manikins were used in teaching medical students.
